Mission Impossible 4: Insert Scientology Joke here

My friends make fun of me for my obsession with Tom Cruise. I have no defense: he's completely nuts. But you have to agree, he makes one damn fine Ethan Hunt. If nothing else, Simon Pegg is in it!

However, for those who have a slightly different interest in new movies, I want to present an alternative. Steven Spielberg finally has a new movie actually directed by him and it just happens to be War Horse. As far as I know he hasn't directed anything since Indiana Jones and the fact that he chose War Horse makes things even better. War Horse is currently on Broadway in New York and got a few Tony's to boot. I don't want to speak too soon but it seems to have the proper formula of an oscar winner.

...And just for those who are extra curious I included something about War Horse on stage.

Pixar's Newest Film

We have a whole year to contemplate if this will be a success but judging by Pixar's flawless record, this film will be another huge pile of money for them. I love that Pixar is going after the fantasy theme. It makes me think a little of How to Train your Dragon but with the extra flair that only Pixar can give. The lead looks like a boss too.

Tuna Sandwich

Umm, I don't really have a reason to post this other than the fact that I'm hungry and this made me giggle. Sandwiches are the shit. And Natalie Dee can sometimes be funny.

Telephone Dissected

If you do not know about the amazing Alex Day you need to visit his blog here. Some of his stuff is hysterical. Especially the "Alex Reads Twilight" section.

Splash Mountain Proposal

I have so many questions for this picture. First of all, how the hell did they manage to sneak those signs on the ride without Miss Lindsay here noticing? Gotta admit, it's quite impressive. I also love the expression on her face. If she actually said yes they certainly have a good story to tell the folks back home. If she turned him down, Disneyland will always be a reminder of his greatest failure in life. Let's hope that's not the case.

8 Bit Ho

Over here at The Solar Surfer, we like to keep things 'fair and balanced' when it comes to feuding video game characters. The ladies got their say yesterday so it's only fair to give some face time to Link and Mario. Not sure why Mega Man is DJ...Let the games begin!

A New Perspective Changes Everything

Strangely enough, I found this video completely by accident. Thank God I did because it's actually pretty funny. Good thing the princesses are there to straighten out the facts. Now don't get me wrong, I adore Link more than any other game character but after watching the video, even I thought he was a lazy ass.

Alan Rickman says "Goodbye" to the Franchise

This is fairly dated but still a sad sight to see. As the series drew to a close, Alan Rickman said his final farewell to the greatness that is Harry Potter. He's right, time goes by waaay to fast. We are lucky to have grown up in the days J.K. Rowling. See you all at the midnight release.

Annuities Suck

Here's my beef: last night I was watching the horrible show, "America's Got Talent" where contestants compete for the chance at one million dollars. One of my favorite things to do is read the fine print at the end of shows like this. Turns out that the winning contestant will receive their million bucks in installments over FORTY years. Hmm, I'm pretty sure the idiots who go on that show don't understand the facts when they sign away on their contract. This brings me to the picture. For those who never understood the JG Wentworth ads, they basically buy your millions at a fraction of the price so that you can get your "money now." It's quite the ripoff but for people who juggle spoons for a living I'm guessing they have no other choice.
Just out of curiosity, I looked up the facts for, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" and they are at least a little more fair. If you actually manage to win the million dollars, they give your the first two-hundred fifty thousand within the first month. The rest? Rewarded over the next 20 years. Judging by the cat lady grandmas who usually end up on that show I'm guessing the producers of Millionaire are hoping contestants will die before receiving their full winnings. And it must be working out for them because the show is STILL on.

Robin Williams Loves Video Games!

Not only is Robin Williams a gamer, he also loved Zelda so much he named his daughter after the famous princess. Sounds awesome to me. It's a pretty cool ad campaign for Nintendo to do even though it's a little strange. I also included the interview of the two about their passion for the game. It's pretty funny to see them so enthralled with the 3DS when they clearly just started playing it but the back story is kind of cute. If Robin can name his kid after Zelda I guess I'm no longer crazy for planning to name my kid Link. Take that, status quo!

Oh, Sandra Lee, You Never Cease to Amuse

Food Network is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I easily watch an hour of it every day but rarely does it lead to me actually cooking. There are very few shows I cannot stand but those who top the hate list are Rachel Ray, The Neely's, and Sandra Lee. There's something about Sandra Lee that makes her show just dreadful. Could it be that she dresses to match her kitchen's changing design EVERY episode? Maybe. Could it be the fact that her show revolves around using already packaged ingredients? Definitely. Either way, Sandra Lee is a bit of a joke on food network and the fact that someone actually made this video serves as proof of that.

July 15th is Approaching

With about a month left before the big finale to Harry Potter premieres, I thought I would share a pretty cool image from the film's website. The background to the page has an animated graphic of Hogwarts burning down to a beautiful sunset. Besides sites for Christopher Nolan films, I usually expect little more than a trailer and the release date. This one was just too awesome not to share.

I Believe This Show is Awesome

Okay, I'm officially obsessed. I promise no more posts about the Tony's after this but Trey Parker and Matt Stone are perfect examples of how awesome freedom of speech is. The Book of Mormon is new, fresh, and full of fun. Yes, there are a ton of Mormon jokes, but after using my good friend Wikipedia, it's clear that the show has a good message and is not there to only insult. Also, the music is bitchin. If anyone who reads this is a fan of Broadway, look up the show. It won nine awards last night so I'm pretty sure the rest of theater approves.

A Good Reason to Watch the Tony's

Granted, I'm a huge fan of the stage and I automatically love anything with music thrown in but the Tony's are really becoming a great show on their own. Also, the addition of the Book of Mormon this year definitely brought in a whole new crowd. Leave it to the South Park guys to bring Broadway back in style.

Magic AND Bullets?! Don't Mess with Harry

Winter Artwork does some of the best graphic designs and this has to be near the top. Pretty sure bullets are faster than spells.

Vader goes to Disney

Probably one of the best Disney ads I've seen to date. As far as the 'aww' factor goes, that is.
