Lololololololol

Finally, the Total Recall remake has a trailer. Whoopie...Wait, Kate Beckinsale is in it?! Damn, now I have to go. We should all buy a ticket to see this fine example of true creativity and quality film. Not too sure how much of this post is sarcastic and how much is truly sincere. But I'm really going to see it.

Prometheus is Going to Kick Ass

If you guys saw The Hunger Games within the past week, chances are you saw the latest trailer for Prometheus. Just in case, I want to make sure everyone is on the same page by posting it here. I'm amazed that the trailers have revealed minimal hints as to being a part of the Alien series. Once we get closer to the release date, I'm ready to see some face-hugger footage or at least a bit more than some nasty slime.

More License Plates

I don't know how I'm so lucky lately but this one was definitely one for the blog! If the owner of this plate is viewing this, I salute you!

Seinfeld is Everywhere

Seeing as I was in New York last week and that I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, certain adventures had to take place. Yes, I found the original diner that a majority of Seinfeld takes place in. I also found the famous 'black-and-white' cookie that Jerry loves (if you don't know what I'm talking about you should definitely follow the link). But this? Someone in NY loves Seinfeld a little to much if you ask me.

Back in the Emerald City

Okay, anyone who has ever seen Battlestar Galactica should find the whole 'fracking' thing hilarious. I had never heard of it until last week but I can't take it seriously. Apparently, the real definition of 'fracking' is when people go and siphon their own gas from underground, or something like that. I guess it can be dangerous but seriously, that's what happens when you frack with things you don't understand.

One Week Hiatus

Hey all. As you can see from my lack of posting I have been unable to update the blog. I am actually in New York City for the next week and already have a ton of new stuff that I can't wait to post about. However, that will have to wait for when I get home next Thursday.  The city calls to me! See you all then!

High-Ho Silver!

So I guess I'm a little behind on the whole Lone Ranger thing but this morning I had my mind blown by the group of people involved in the project. Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio (Pirate franchise, Treasure Planet) are some of my favorite writers and Armie Hammer, who I'm sure is going to be the next big name, is the starring lead. Yes, that's Johnny Depp next to him as Tonto but I think this movie is going to be much more than some action-packed, big budget blockbuster (say that three times fast).

The cast is pretty much transferred over from the Pirates franchise (Gore Verbinski is directing as well) and I feel that this movie will have the same feel as the first Pirates film did. We have a fresh new idea based of a fairly popular series and while I can't say anything about the likely sequels already lined up for Lone Ranger, the first one shouldn't disappoint.

Sidenote: does anyone else think it's weird that Armie Hammer is also the heir to the big Arm and Hammer fortune? I mean, how cocky was his dad to name his son Armand Hammer? I feel for the poor guy.

FRANKENWEENIE!

Soooo excited for Frankenweenie and here's why:

This video is just a slideshow but the whole film can be viewed on Youtube. Tim Burton made Frankenweenie around the 80s and I definitely remember watching it when I was super little. It's only a half hour long but it is definitely typical Tim Burton. And even though this new one looks exactly like The Corpse Bride I'm still excited to see him go back to his roots.

Sam Rockwell: Dancing Machine

I absolutely adore Sam Rockwell but I definitely didn't notice how many movies he has been able to dance in. Coincidence? Who knows? I'm willing to bet he tries a few moves with every film in hopes that it will make it to the final cut.

Who's Ready for More Tim Burton?

Tim Burton has a new film coming out and it has the 'oh-so-mysterious' title of "Dark Shadows." His usual actors will star (Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter) as well as some new ones (Michelle Pfeiffer and Cloe Moretz) and the whole group should make this one awesome film. Here's the quickest description I can find so far:
"A gothic-horror tale centering on the life of vampire Barnabas Collins and his run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts. Based on the cult TV series."
Okay, so the whole vampire thing is getting out of hand. Really out of hand. This being said, I feel that when Tim Burton decides to address a subject it ends up standing in a world of its own. Also, I've never heard of the "cult TV series" that IMDB refers to but Seth Grahame-Smith (author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as well as Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter) is working on the screenplay, which is bound to make it unique. Another plus is that the film is scheduled to come out this May so it isn't like we have a long wait ahead of us. Kind of surprised by the lack of trailer, though. More pictures and a much more detailed plot can be found on comingsoon.net

Call This Number!

1 (781) 452-4077. It's the Hogwarts Hotline. I thought it would be more fun not to tell you guys where it leads (as I had no idea the first time I dialed it) but I'm pretty sure no one would trust me enough to actually dial. It's awesome to see the millions of things that have spawned from the Harry Potter universe and even though this isn't the most interesting thing around it still made me giggle.

5000 Views

Wow. I take a weekend off and I come back with over 5000 views? Quite impressive. I feel not worthy after spending all weekend doing absolutely nothing to improve the site. Hell, I even left Monday blank! I will partially blame this on my extra late discovery of the game Borderlands as it ruled a majority of my time but also blame it on plain lazyness. Guess this is a wake up call to devote more time to you devoted people. I promise to keep the gaming to a minimum. It's just so hard!

I Want to Go to Burning Man

Burning Man is amazing. Most of you have heard of it but I have never met someone who has actually been there. For an 8-week event, the tickets are only around $300 and it's killing me that I can't make it this year. This is one for the bucket list. Has the video peaked your interest? Avengers Continues to Impress

The action sequences in this movie are going to be insanely awesome. Here are my doubts: this one movie has to deal with an ensemble cast of characters who for the most part all have had movies of their own. They each need to have equal screen time and also have to be grouped up fairly quickly in order to get into the actual plot of stopping Loki.
How is this movie going to be able to deal with the idiosyncrasies of each character while still having them function as a team and still manage not to feel rushed. I'm just going to hope the film ends up being super long in order to incorporate everything. And what the hell is with the decepticon snake thing at the end?

Awkward Kristin

I love that this girl doesn't understand how to exit the shot. Good thing, because her confusion is hilarious.

Bonjour, Girl

This made me laugh for many of the same reasons that the Honey Badger made me laugh. Something about the voice over paired with the sassy gay attitude makes it magical. Fair warning: very few people I have shown this to so far actually found it funny so it's possible I just have a weird sense of humor. However, I don't know how anyone can avoid laughing at the library scene.

It's Oscar Night Bitches!

This is probably the least enthusiastic I have ever been for the Academy Awards. I mean, just watch the ad! Robin Williams was the only reason it was fun. Although, things are already starting to look up. Once I saw Sacha Baron Cohen arrive in his Dictator costume I knew the night was going to get better. Fingers crossed that my intuition doesn't fail me!

Osombie

Ahaha I couldn't resist posting this after seeing it. Mainstay Productions does a bunch of cool short videos and I actually came across them for their series of Hunger Games related movies. They made a series of short videos for the Finnick/Annie storyline and one short film about the second quarter quell. Pretty impressive stuff.

Spiderman Viral Campaign

I absolutely loved the effort that went into The Dark Knight when it was first being promoted and it looks like Marvel is attempting the same creativity. Not only was there a campaign on markofthespider-man.com that allowed people to graffiti Spiderman's symbol across several cities, there was also a search to 'find' Peter Parker's backpack all over the country. The comingsoon.net article has more pictures and information about what happened but I cannot wait for the next installment.

JK Rowling Working on New Book?

Alright, the article is super vague and obviously this book is quite a ways from being published but it is happening! She has a new publisher and is aiming for the adult crowd so I'm guessing this will be a shift in gears from Harry Potter. Follow the link for the full article! Huffington Post

Disney Hip Hop

Crappy video but nothing tops a good beat; unless it's a good beat mixed with some Disney! If you love this kind of stuff make sure to check out djDOYOU and the other songs on his "Stuntin Like Mufasa" mixtape. Or just search him on youtube like I did and listen to the whole album. Either way, most of the songs are surprisingly good mixes. Make a Man Touch the Sky was one of my favorites:

Deviantartist Spotlight

In the spirit of promoting original artwork and artists I've decided to highlight Nimra from deviantart.  This guy is probably from another planet, because his drawings are so detailed and perfect that I'm going to refuse to accept that he's human.
That's all HAND DRAWN people.  Not a photo.  I can't believe it either.  Check out his gallery and favorite some of those masterpieces! Nimra:)

Thanks, Hallmark

I'm not a V-day hater. I've never referred to it as 'single-awareness day' and this is the first year that I have actually not been single. I'm also not a hater on sending a nice card to a family member to remind them that you love them. However, this ad is a mistake.

Hallmark seriously needs to work on its advertising. Honestly, aren't most of these comments things that you should already be saying? And even if you don't say them, is a card really the way to tell someone 'how you feel'? Plus, all these people sound pretty insecure and needy. "Tell me that I'm still the one." If you need to hear that, perhaps there are some other things you should worry about instead of your husband's reassurance that you're his favorite. The "tell me you'll never let me go" lady seems completely off the rails. Pretty sure that person in the taxi is NEVER coming back to that town again.

Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter

My original excitement for this came from the fact that the book was awesome and that Tim Burton was behind the movie. Kind of surprised with Abe's axe wielding skills...He looks a little weird...Like, really weird...Just sayin'

Best Beatboxing Ever?

I'm curious to see if there's anyone out there who can top this as Rahzel seems to be the greatest beatboxer of all time. This song is 100% him and I still can't even imagine how he does it.

Damn that Keebler Elf!

This is the time of year where I begin to frantically search every grocery store and gas station around to find my precious girl scout cookies. The greatest of all these cookies? Samoas (s'moas?). Eh, I'm too tired to google the spelling but you guys know what I'm talking about, right? Delectable caramel, chocolate and coconut circles that can never be cloned outside of the Girl Scouts of America. That is, I thought they were one-of-a-kind until the evil Keebler Elf decided to put those poor adorable scouts out of business! This picture is evidence of my discovery and it's amazing I was able to snag such an image as they were completely devoured shortly after the photo was taken. I am here to say before the whole internet that Keebler has created a monster and we can now enjoy these cookies all year round. No, I'm not getting any sort of sponsor money for featuring this, I just wanted you to know what a gift and a curse these cookies are for anyone who is a fan.

Dovahkiibot

This made me chuckle. Today is the last day of Female Artist Week on Teefury and for the next 10 hours you can buy THIS awesome skyrim/transformers shirt! However, if you don't buy it in the next 10 hours than the picture link will send you to the shirt for the new day. Grab it before it's gone!

Don't worry guys. In about a month the Hunger Games will be out and my frequent posts about it will slowly dissipate. Until then, you will have to suffer through it. Kudos to my brother for knowing how much I love random videos like these.

The Best Part of the Super Bowl

I wasn't very enthused for the Super Bowl this year. I wanted the 49ers to make it all the way and once they lost the leftover teams seemed just plain boring. Even so, I still watched the game and found it to be at least mildly amusing. The commercials are always a factor to look forward to as well. Our house missed most of them due to the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet (just TRY not to watch it next year) but we caught a lot of the good ones. This is one I didn't see until this morning but it has certainly become my favorite. It's nice to see NBC laugh at themselves and have a bit of fun.

This is a view from somewhere around the Olympic Peninsula. My friend Eric took it and I'm still amazed with how stunning it is. Hop over to his flickr page to show some love or simply be blown away by his awesome portfolio. If nothing else, the link in the picture leads to a larger image on flickr. Eric Schofhauser

Potter Badassery

Props to ReillyBrown for the awesome art.

Is Netflix a Monopoly?

Clearly, they don't care.
When I think about my options for renting a movie only two companies come to mind: Netflix and Redbox. Both are different in their own way but both have the same purpose, which is to provide movie rentals to us. Netflix has already been raising prices and now Redbox might be facing that choice as well. MSN just released a short article about the fact that Warner Brothers wants the two companies to wait 56 days after a film release to provide rentals (the current wait is 28 days). In this request, Netflix agreed with WB while Redbox refused. The bottom line is that Redbox will now have to pay more for Warner Brothers releases because they will have to turn to sources outside of the film company.

My question has to do with why Netflix didn't back up Redbox's choice. It's clear that Netflix has the upper hand, what with subscribers paying monthly fees to have access to a much broader range of films. Redbox relies almost entirely on new releases and rarely carries the same films more than a couple of months. Also, if Redbox has to start raising prices it is more than likely that people will turn to Netflix as the smarter way to get 'more bang for your buck.' So what do we do? If people continue to turn to Netflix for movie rentals there will be nothing to stop the company from consistently raising prices. I don't see them going anywhere in the future but up and there really isn't any true competition to stand in their way. Any thoughts on this? Am I crazy for even caring?

It Could Not Be More True

All I can say is lololololololol to this picture. Having played all of these games, I have certainly felt this. Resident Evil is my favorite series of games but I can honestly say I would never want to face off against a giant claw-spider-zombie-monster. Thanks for the nightmares, Capcom.

The Best Lamp Ad

Talk about 'out with the old, in with the new.' This IKEA ad was done by Spike Jonze (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich) and while it's old, it still says a lot about how the many aspects of a film can manipulate us to feel certain emotions.

Kristen Bell REALLY Loves Sloths

If you ever do something awesome for Kristen Bell and she has a total meltdown, just remember that her crying is her happy face. This clip is awesome. Especially the part where her boyfriend video-taped her breakdown.

Hey Arnold Grown Up

While we are still in the 'animation' realm, this picture found its way into my inbox. If anyone knows the original author definitely let me know so we can give some credit but so far I can only find other sites that have featured it. Looks like Helga turned into one hot badass. I guess that goes to show what a dress and some conditioner can do. Funny how Arnold still looks exactly the same.

Hipster Princesses

Behold! Another take on the Disney Princesses. As if there weren't enough already.

Belle actually makes a pretty good hipster. And yes, I am aware Anastasia isn't Disney but I'm still glad she was included.

UPDATE: The artist is viria13 and she is awesome. Her deviantart page is filled with a bunch of Harry Potter drawings in addition to the Disney.

Katniss

Awesome art by Patsie of Katniss from the Hunger Games. Even if you aren't a fan of the series (in which case you should pick up a copy and begin reading immediately), this is still a great piece of art. Her use of color is something I haven't really seen before. She's also done drawings of different characters from the series but otherwise is a pretty new addition to Deviantart. I look forward to seeing her other art in the near future.

Fi Annoys Link

Perhaps it's because I haven't been able to put Skyward down since I got it for Christmas but I found this video to be hilarious. Fi is seriously just as annoying as Navi which is probably the only downside to the game. Just because "hey, listen" has been replaced with a loud glowing sound doesn't mean I won't be pissed when she tells me for the 50th time that I need to replenish my hearts.

Fanmade Star Wars as it has Never Been Seen Before

Alright, here's the gist. Fans from all over were each given 15 seconds of Star Wars: A New Hope to recreate and make their own. Then each 15 second cut was put together to give us an entirely fan made version of the film which was then posted on YouTube. Here's the full version. Honestly, I only made it about 20 minutes in and then I started jumping around a bit but some of these are truly clever. 26:50 and 1:35:09 made me giggle quite a bit.

Umm What?

As a huge Resident Evil fan, it should say a lot when I say I've had enough. One can only stay loyal to a series so long before breaking down from disappointment. However, I did see Michelle Rodriguez which means I will still be forking over my well earned money to find out how she worked her way back into the franchise. At least we can be guaranteed some sweet, zombie-killing goodness.

Liam Neeson the Comedian

My friend showed this after Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes. Good to know Liam Neeson has room in his schedule for some comedy on the side of punching the shit out of wolves. Let's be honest, The Grey looks like a comedy too.

Get ready for the season 3 premiere tonight! I'm ready for a whole new round of yups and nopes.

Why? Because what isn't awesome about an epic battle between Teddy Roosevelt and Bigfoot? Click the picture for both a bigger size and to see the link to the awesome deviantartist, Sharpwriter. He's also drawn some other epic battles like George Washington versus Zombies and definitely deserves your attention.

Awake

I'm a big fan of Jason Isaacs but I've rarely seen him play anything but a bad guy. Lucius Malfoy, Captain Hook, even that evil Redcoat guy in The Patriot, but this show presents an entirely new character for him. Awake looks extremely interesting and promising and I can only hope that enough people watch it for NBC not to cancel it. Unfortunately, NBC cancels everything that isn't an instant success so the outlook is grim for Awake. I can't really find a concrete release date for the show yet but sometime in the next few months seems to be the most reliable release time.

Pizza Planet Truck

I thought this was a cool complement to Megatron's post from a few days ago. Some seem like a stretch but I guess that one truck really is in all these movies. Props to them for fitting it in both A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo.

Thank God for the Internet

Considering that this is my blog and I can do whatever the hell I want, I would like to present you all with a montage of the many scenes of Tom Cruise running. Enjoy.

Umbrella Clean Up Crew

As a huge fan of the Resident Evil games, it only makes sense that I would feel the need to share this with all of you. In this new cinematic trailer, we really get to see what makes the individual abilities of each character awesome and how much fun the game can be. Between this and the Hunger Games movie I'm going to have a very busy spring break.

Pixar Magic

I had no idea about this, but apparently the pizza planet truck from toy story has also made cameos in every movie since with the exception of The Incredibles.  Gotta love the little things in life.  Check out where to find it in each movie here!

Cool Trailers

Here are a couple of movies coming out soon that I knew nothing about until today. Go figure.

They had me at Steven Soderbergh and Ewan Mcgregor but this film is packed with big names and cool fighting. It made me think a little of Colombiana what with the whole 'girl kicking ass' thing and the plot isn't all that original. It's pretty easy for me to get psyched for a movie though.

No idea about this one. Looks bitchin'

30 Anticipated Games of 2012

I'm a gamer. And although it contradicts the last post I play games more than I read. Luckily, today's video games bring a whole new art to storytelling. The narrative in games like Bioshock or Zelda give gamers a gift. Not only are we just sitting down for mindless Call of Duty matches or a classic game of Tetris! Oh no, current developers encourage us to ask for more. That is why I am so looking forward to the games being released this year.

IGN just posted their 30 most anticipated games of the year and many of them look to be great additions to any gamer's library. Granted, there are still 'just for fun' fighting games like Street Fighter Vs. Tekken and Soul Caliber (which I will be buying on release day) but some others, like The Last of Us, will present a new avenue in creativity.

Also, as a side note, doesn't it seem like we are getting overkill in the sequel range? I'm loving every sequel mentioned on the list but they seem to be overpowering the stage for something new. Just a thought. Full IGN article here: 30 Most Anticipated

Generation Illiterate

I can't be the only one here who is severely disappointed with what is happening to today's teens. NO one reads books anymore and even e-readers are a stretch. I suppose if it takes an iPad to get people reading that is better than nothing but there is something about turning actual pages without the blinding back light that makes books special. I even own a kindle but constantly switch between an actual novel and the digital type. My children will be forced to do reading the way my grandparents did it: by moving their finger one inch and turning the damn page!

I'm Back!

I can only assume that the frustration on Gollum's face matches your own for not seeing updates to this site. No worries, people. I'm back and ready to show you more awesome stuff from the internet community.
