The 20 Best Cities for 20-Somethings

 Considering that it is mostly young folks reading this blog (and that one is also writing it), this seemed like an interesting titbit to share with you all. I have to agree with Seattle, as it is still my favorite place that I have lived, and even Portland made the list (which is basically a small Seattle) so there's plenty of love going out to the Pacific Northwest. In fact, it seemed that most of these places are towards the west coast. Hmm, perhaps this whole 'life in Florida' thing should change.

Most of the cities seemed to be rated on a night-life, similar age groups, and active lifestyles but when I looked over the list there weren't any I disagreed with (although New York seems like a pretty expensive option for 20-somethings) so it deemed a post on the Solar Surfer. I refuse to see any way that this movie can go wrong and this picture proves that I'm right. It has been a while since the last picture was posted and yesterday their Twitter page did not disappoint my hopes for progress. No matter how old these guys get, they will still be hilarious as Harry and Lloyd. Ride on, brothers.

HitRECord TV

The creative genius, Mr. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is at it again. Episode 1 of his HitRECord TV came out a couple of weeks ago and it has taken me this long to actually watch it but do not let that discourage you from giving it a look right now. It's a sort of variety show made up of the various collaborations from his website, hitREcord.org and it is definitely done with style. Way back when, I posted about this website in hopes that I could spread the love of what these guys are trying to show everyone (And to prove in hipster fashion that I liked it before it was cool). In a world where people have the mentality of "this is mine, so don't steal it" I find it refreshing to see that this site serves a more collaborative goal. hitRECord strives to take something an artist has done and twist it in a way that makes it unique and new. Many of the creations on the site have hundreds of different collaborators and through this I feel we can make fascinating connections with the people around us.

In this particular episode, the theme was the number 1. For first times, first collaborations, and so fittingly, first episodes. I have to say my favorite video these guys created was the song, "You're not the Only One," which of course they save for last. Here's hoping that HitRECord TV has a long and vibrant run as a series.

Etsy Schweetness

I think it might be a good idea to make this section a reoccurring part of the blog. Etsy has some of the most fascinating handicrafts on the internet. My favorite of the week is this little beauty. All the awesomeness of Harry Potter wrapped up in one puuurty little bracelet. And for only six bucks! Not including the shipping from China, however. Frozen and Arrested Development. What a Magical combo.

A. Frozen is phenomenal. Anyone who is losing faith in the future of Disney animation should give it a look (easily a better film than Brave AND Tangled).

B. These guys have to be fans of Arrested Development. Too bad they couldn't throw in the cornballer somewhere.

Ahh, the end of 2013. The time where blogging becomes extremely easy  as all that needs to be done is a recap of what we have already seen this year. It Feels Good to be Back

Well, hello again, folks. I've had a nice break from the internet world, and it's been refreshing. Peaceful, even. But in recent weeks, there has just been too much good news floating around that I can't keep away from blogging any longer. What finally sparked the fire? Joesph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to both direct AND star in an upcoming "Sandman" film and I could not be more excited than I am now. The rumors had been circling for a while but the IGN article making it official came out just a few days ago. Expect much more news in the future as I keep my nose to the ground on this one. It's good to be back.

Sandman? Yeah, I can see it.

Lololololololol

Finally, the Total Recall remake has a trailer. Whoopie...Wait, Kate Beckinsale is in it?! Damn, now I have to go. We should all buy a ticket to see this fine example of true creativity and quality film. Not too sure how much of this post is sarcastic and how much is truly sincere. But I'm really going to see it.

Prometheus is Going to Kick Ass

If you guys saw The Hunger Games within the past week, chances are you saw the latest trailer for Prometheus. Just in case, I want to make sure everyone is on the same page by posting it here. I'm amazed that the trailers have revealed minimal hints as to being a part of the Alien series. Once we get closer to the release date, I'm ready to see some face-hugger footage or at least a bit more than some nasty slime.

Seinfeld is Everywhere

Seeing as I was in New York last week and that I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, certain adventures had to take place. Yes, I found the original diner that a majority of Seinfeld takes place in. I also found the famous 'black-and-white' cookie that Jerry loves (if you don't know what I'm talking about you should definitely follow the link). But this? Someone in NY loves Seinfeld a little to much if you ask me.

Back in the Emerald City

Okay, anyone who has ever seen Battlestar Galactica should find the whole 'fracking' thing hilarious. I had never heard of it until last week but I can't take it seriously. Apparently, the real definition of 'fracking' is when people go and siphon their own gas from underground, or something like that. I guess it can be dangerous but seriously, that's what happens when you frack with things you don't understand.

One Week Hiatus

Hey all. As you can see from my lack of posting I have been unable to update the blog. I am actually in New York City for the next week and already have a ton of new stuff that I can't wait to post about. However, that will have to wait for when I get home next Thursday.  The city calls to me! See you all then!

High-Ho Silver!

So I guess I'm a little behind on the whole Lone Ranger thing but this morning I had my mind blown by the group of people involved in the project. Ted Elliot and Terry Rossio (Pirate franchise, Treasure Planet) are some of my favorite writers and Armie Hammer, who I'm sure is going to be the next big name, is the starring lead. Yes, that's Johnny Depp next to him as Tonto but I think this movie is going to be much more than some action-packed, big budget blockbuster (say that three times fast).

The cast is pretty much transferred over from the Pirates franchise (Gore Verbinski is directing as well) and I feel that this movie will have the same feel as the first Pirates film did. We have a fresh new idea based of a fairly popular series and while I can't say anything about the likely sequels already lined up for Lone Ranger, the first one shouldn't disappoint.

Sidenote: does anyone else think it's weird that Armie Hammer is also the heir to the big Arm and Hammer fortune? I mean, how cocky was his dad to name his son Armand Hammer? I feel for the poor guy.

Disappointed

FRANKENWEENIE!

Soooo excited for Frankenweenie and here's why:

This video is just a slideshow but the whole film can be viewed on Youtube. Tim Burton made Frankenweenie around the 80s and I definitely remember watching it when I was super little. It's only a half hour long but it is definitely typical Tim Burton. And even though this new one looks exactly like The Corpse Bride I'm still excited to see him go back to his roots.

Sam Rockwell: Dancing Machine

I absolutely adore Sam Rockwell but I definitely didn't notice how many movies he has been able to dance in. Coincidence? Who knows? I'm willing to bet he tries a few moves with every film in hopes that it will make it to the final cut.

Who's Ready for More Tim Burton?

Tim Burton has a new film coming out and it has the 'oh-so-mysterious' title of "Dark Shadows." His usual actors will star (Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter) as well as some new ones (Michelle Pfeiffer and Cloe Moretz) and the whole group should make this one awesome film. Here's the quickest description I can find so far:

 "A gothic-horror tale centering on the life of vampire Barnabas Collins and his run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts. Based on the cult TV series."

Okay, so the whole vampire thing is getting out of hand. Really out of hand. This being said, I feel that when Tim Burton decides to address a subject it ends up standing in a world of its own. Also, I've never heard of the "cult TV series" that IMDB refers to but Seth Grahame-Smith (author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as well as Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter) is working on the screenplay, which is bound to make it unique. Another plus is that the film is scheduled to come out this May so it isn't like we have a long wait ahead of us. Kind of surprised by the lack of trailer, though.
